Two Missing Hunters Found Alive

The Maine Warden Service reports that two hunters missing in the woods since Friday have been found alive. Border Patrol agents contacted the Warden Service just before 6 Sunday evening and reported they had found the men alive and well near Eagle Lake Township. Details of why they were overdue are still being investigated.

Travis Hafford of East Millinocket and Ryan Stevens of Millinocket, both 33 years old left home between 6 and 7 o'clock Friday morning on a hunting trip to the Clayton Lake area. They were supposed to return home in time for supper Friday night but hadn't been seen again until they were located Sunday evening.

While searching the region Sunday morning, a truck was found that belongs to a hunter being sought by Canadian authorities. Renald Poulin of Quebec, 67, crossed into the U.S. on November 26th and was due to return the next day. Yesterday, game wardens located his green 2002 Kia Sedona in the Chamberlain Lake Region. Several Maine Game Wardens and K-9 teams were assigned to look for Poulin as well.

The search for Poulin will resume on Monday morning near Umbazooksus Lake in TWP T6 R13 WELS. It is believed that he had an interest in the rail systems used in that area decades ago in the logging industry.
