Christian Vazquez had four hits, including a go-ahead two-run home run to push the Red Sox past the Toronto Blue Jays 6-5 last night. That win, combined with a Yankees loss, gives the Sox a bit more breathing room in the AL East.

Their lead is now 3.5 games.

The Sox offense did wake up a bit, getting 12 hits. Along with Vazquez, Eduardo Nunez clubbed a home run. Andrew Benintendi, Mitch Moreland and Hanley Ramirez all had two hits.

On the hill, Drew Pomeranz got in and out of trouble all night. He pitched six innings, got his 14th win to tie Chris Sale for the team lead.

Craig Kimbrel got the 9th inning save but did make it interesting after giving up a two-run homer to Justin Smoak.

The 74-57 Sox send Sale to the mound tonight. You can hear the pregame starting at 6:20 with the 1st pitch at 7:07 on AM 1370 WDEA.
