A house fire in Bar Harbor Sunday killed two people and sent two others to the hospital with burn injuries.

Crews were called to the home on the Russell Farm Road at around 8:00 Sunday morning. The fire was reported by one of the residents, who told the 911 operator that he and his son had escaped the flames, but his wife and other son were still inside. He said the son who got out did so by jumping from a second story window.

Two bodies were found in the remains, who are presumed to be the man's wife, who was in her 80's, and their son, who was in his 50's. The bodies were taken to a funeral home, where their identities can be confirmed by a Medical Examiner.

The father and son who survived the fire were taken to MDI Hospital with burn injuries and have since been transported to EMMC in Bangor and Maine Medical Center in Portland. There's no word on their conditions. Officials haven't released the names of any of the victims, pending notification of family.

The State Fire Marshal's Office will now work to determine what sparked the fire.
