Trojans Too Much For Orono 60-37 [Box Score/Recap/Stats]
The MDI Trojans Boys Basketball Team proved too much for the Orono Red Riots on Monday afternoon, January 15th as they beat the Red Riots 60-37 in Orono.
MDI jumped out to a 18-6 lead in the 1st Quarter. Andrew Phelps had 7 points with a 3-pointer, Finn McConomy had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Derek Collin, Drew Shea and Owen Mild each had 2 points for the Trojans. For Orono Jonathan Steelman had a 3-pointer, Sam Martin had 2 points and Jonny Spencer was 1-2 from the free throw line.
Orono cut MDI's lead to 4 points at the end of the 1st Half, 27-23 as they outscored MDI 17-9 in the 2nd Quarter. Steelman drained 2 3-pointers for 6 points, Connor Robertson had 4 points, Zack Dill hit a 3-pointer and Marin and Spencer added 2 points for Orono. For MDI Collin had 3 points, and Phelps, Shea and Mild each chipped in with 2 points.
In the 3rd Quarter MDI outscored Orono 16-9 to take a 43-32 lead at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Finn McConomy drained 2 3-pointers for 6 points, Mild had 4 points, and Phelps, Collin and Dane Vanzura had 2 points each for MDI. For Orono Marin had 7 points and Evan Kefanic 2 points.
The Trojans outscored Orono 17-5 in the 4th Quarter. Nick Duley and Drew Shea had 4 points each for MDI, Andrew Phelps had a 3-pointer and Finn McConomy. Colby Lee, and Derek Collin each had 2 points for the Trojans. For Orono Chance Walton and Zack Dill had 2 points each and Steelman had 1 free throw.
MDI was led by Andrew Phelps with 14 points, Finn McConomy had 13 points and Derek Collin had 9 points. MDI was 2-9 from the free throw line.
Orono was led by Sam Marin with 11 points and Jonathan Steelman had 10 points. The Red Riots were 5-11 from the free throw line.
