Trojans Too Much For Eagles 51-32 [Box Score/Recap/Photos]
The MDI Girls Basketball Team proved too much for the Ellsworth Eagles on Tuesday night, January 9th beating the Eagles 51-32.
MDI led 12-5 at the end of the 1st Quarter, as Maddy Candage had 6 points, Julia Watras 4 points and Hannah Chamberlain for the Trojans. For Ellsworth Trinity Montigny had a 3-pointer and Sierra Andrews was 2-2 from the free throw line.
Ellsworth outscored MDI 10-8 in the 2nd Quarter to cut MDI's lead to 5 points, 20-15 at the end of the 1st Half. For Ellsworth Katelynn Bagley had 6 points and Montigny and Andrews each had 2 points. For MDI Watras, Candage, Rachelle Swanson and Chamberlain each had 2 points.
In the 3rd Quarter, MDI outscored Ellsworth 16-6 to put the game away, leading 36-21 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. In the 3rd Quarter Emily Banks had 6 points, all in the paint for MDI. Candage had 4 points and Watras and Maddy Good each had 3 points. For Ellsworth Kylie Robidoux had 4 points and Bagley chipped in 2 points.
In the 4th Quarter Hannah Sargent had 5 points with a 3-pointer, and Samantha Carter, Bagley, and Robidoux had 2 points each for the Eagles. For MDI Lindsey McEachern had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Good had 4 points, Banks added 3 points and Alahna Mild 2 points.
MDI was led by Maddy Candage with a game high 12 points while Julia Watras had 10 points. The Trojans were 6-11 from the free throw line.
Ellsworth was led by Kaitlynn Bagley with 10 points and Kylie Robidoux had 6 points. The Eagles were 6-13 from the free throw line.
MDI is now 7-1 and off until Monday, January 15th when they will play at Orono at 12:30 PM in a game that will be broadcast on on AM 1370 WDEA, WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device with the pregame starting at 12:15 PM
