Eleven days after the first day that games could have been played, the MDI Trojans finally played their first games, and it was worth the wait, as the Trojans beat Caribou 8-1 and 17-5 in Bar Harbor on Saturday, April 28th.

In the 1st game Lindsey McEachern pitched a complete game, allowing just 1 hit and 1 unearned run. She struck out 11 and didn't walk anyone.

Hollie McDougal had Caribou's lone hit.

Heather DeMerchant took the loss for Caribou going 6 innings and giving up 5 hits. She didn't strike out anyone and walked 11.

Hannah Hanscom had a double for the Trojans. McEachern, Madison Thornton, Mackenzie Dyer and Ruby Brown all had a single. Thornton, Maddie Jones, Maddie Tibbetts, Dyer and Hanscom all had RBIs. McEachern and Maddie Neal each had a stolen base.

In the 2nd game, the Trojans jumped out to a 8-0 lead in the 1st inning and never looked back en route to a 17-5 mercy rule shortened 5 inning game.

Hannah Chamberlain went 2-4 and drove in 4 RBI's for MDI. Maddie Neal  and Mackenzie Dyer each were 3-4. Maddie Jones and Hannah Hanscom had 2 hits each. McEachern, Thornton, and Emily York each had a single.

Chamberlain had 4 RBIs, Ruby Brown had 3 RBIs.  Madison Thornton, Maddie Neal and Emily York each had 2 RBIs.

The Trojans had 5 stolen bases with Brown, Chamberlain, Dyer, McEachern and Neal each swiping a base.

Emily York picked up the win for MDI. She allowed 6 hits, 5 runs, all unearned and struck out 7. She didn't walk a batter.

DeMerchant and Brooke Moir pitched for Caribou. Emily Adler was 2-3 for Caribou with a double.

MDI now 2-0 plays at Hermon on Tuesday, May 1st at 4:30

Caribou 1-4 will play a doubleheader against John Bapst next Saturday, May 5th
