After defeating Cheverus earlier on Saturday, the MDI Trojans were ready to play the Scarborough Red Storm, especially given the fact that they were playing them at home at Bernard Parady Gymnasium. The game was late starting, as Scarborough arrived late, after defeating Ellsworth 3-1, in Ellsworth.

MDI came out strong, and won the first set 25-20. The second game was closer 26-24, and the third game MDI won handily 25-15.

Here's Coach Corey's take on the game

Our match against Scarborough was definitely the best of our season so far.  Scarborough is a very good team and the girls had to play their best to beat them.  We served more effectively and gave our defense a chance to shine and it was up to the task.  It was certainly our best defensive outing so far.  Offensively we struggled early on but the girls played smarter as the game progressed and forced Scarborough out of system quite frequently.  Serve receive was solid as well.  But the biggest takeaway was how the girls kept the momentum on their side all match.  They stayed up, kept the intensity high and never let the opposing team go on any runs.  We have great respect for Scarborough and they brought out great play in our girls.  We still have a lot to work on, but we glimpsed the potential today and they just need to keep pushing themselves to get their very best.
