Trojans Run Past Ponies 62-32 [Box Score/Recap/Photos]

The MDI Trojans Boys Basketball Team took a 19-13 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter and never looked back en route to their 13th win of the season with a 62-32 victory over the Foxcroft Academy Ponies on Saturday night, February 3rd.

In the 1st Quarter Derek Collin scored 8 points, Finn McConomy had 5 points, with a 3-pointer, Colby Lee had 4 points with a 3-pointer  and Eli Parady had 2 points for MDI. For Foxcroft Academy Drew Dankert had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Cameron Marsh and Matt Spooner each had a 3-pointer and Hyatt Smith had 2 points.

In the 2nd Quarter, MDI outscored 14-8 to take a 33-21 lead at the end of the 1st Half. For MDI Drew Shea had 4 points, McConomy and Alden Fournier each had a 3-pointer and Brett Duley and Collin had 2 points. For Foxcroft Academy Dankert, Josh Reed, Marsh and Jeremy Richard each had 2 points.

The Trojans increased their lead to 20 points at the end of the 3rd  Quarter 46-26 holding the Ponies to just 5 points in the Quarter. Dane Vanzura had 4 points, McConomy had his 3rd 3-pointer and Lee, Collin and Shea each had  2 points for MDI. For Foxcroft Academy Richard, and Smith each had 2 points and Dankert went 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 4th Quarter Brett Duley had 5 points with a 3-pointer for the Trojans. McConomy, Collin, Vanzura, Shea and Parady each had 2 points for MDI and Erik Merchant went 1-2 from the free throw line. For Foxcrft Academy Caleb Crocker and Ryan Laffin each had a 3-pointer.

MDI was led by Derek Collin with 14 points and Finn McConomy had 13 points. MDI was 6-10 from the free throw line.

Foxcroft Academy was led by Drew Dankert with 8 points. The Ponies were 3-8 from the free throw line.

MDI now 13-3 has 2 games remaining. They play at home on Tuesday, February 6th at 7 PM against the Old Town Coyotes and then close out the regular season on Thursday, February 8th at 7 PM on Senior Recognition Night against the Ellsworth Eagles. Both games will be broadcast on  AM 1370 WDEA, WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device

Foxcroft Academy 7-9 plays host to Ellsworth on Monday, February 5th at 7 PM. That game will be broadcast on  AM 1370 WDEA, WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device with the pregame starting at 6:45 PM.
