Trojans Rebound Beat Vikings
The MDI Boy's Basketball Team experienced their 1st loss of the season on Friday night, losing to Presque Isle 60-53. The question remained how would they play against Caribou on Saturday? It turns out they came out on fire, jumping to a 15-0 lead to start the game and the Trojans rebounded to beat Caribou 80-38 Saturday afternoon.
MDI led 19-6 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Russell Kropff had 9 points with a 3-pointer, Andrew Phelps had 6 points and Riley Swanson and Derek Collin had 2 points each for MDI. For Caribou Alex Bouchard had 4 points and Austin Findlen had 2 points.
MDI extended their lead at the end of the 1st Half 38-14. Drew Rich had 6 points, Kropff had 4 points, Colby Lee 3 points and Gus Reeves, Jimmy Carroll and Devin Parlatore had 2 points each in the quarter for the Trojans. For Caribou, Alex Bouchard had a 3-pointer, Austing Findlen was 3-5 from the free throw line and Jake Paul chipped in with 2 points for the Vikings.
In the 3rd Quarter, MDI made it 63-23. Andrew Phelps had 8 points with 2 3-pointers, Gus Reeves had 7 points with a 3-pointer, Russell Kropff had 4 points as did Mac Shea and Devin Parlatore had 2 points. For Caribou Parker Deprey had 8 points wiht 2 3-pointers, Jake Berkoski had a 3-pointer, Austin Findlen had 2 points and Alex Bouchard had a free throw.
In the 4th Quarter Drew Rich had 6 points for MDI, while Drew Shea had 5 points including a 3-pointer. Colby Lee had a 3-pointer and James McConomy had 3 points. For Caribou Alex Bouchard had 4 points, Jake Berkoski had a 3-pointer, Collin Caverhill had 2 points and Austin Findlen had 1 point.
MDI was led by Russell Kropff with a game high 17 points. Andrew Phelps had 14 points and Drew Rich had 12 points. The Trojans were 10-14 from the free throw line.
Caribou was led by Alex Bouchard with 12 points. Austin Findlen and Parker Deprey each had 8 points. Caribou was 13-20 from the free throw line.
MDI, now 14-1 and number 1 in the Heal Point Standings will play host to 11-3 Orono on Tuesday, January 31st on Senior Night. Tip-Off will be at 7 PM with the game being broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio with the pregame beginning at 6:45 PM.
Caribou 4-11 plays at Houlton on Tuesday, January 31st at 7 PM.
