The MDI Trojans defeated the Old Town Coyotes 31-7 on Friday night, October 21st, to finish the regular season 7-1 and finish in 1st place in the Class C North Crabtree Standings. With the win, the Trojans will have a bye in the opening round of the playoffs, and will host the winner of the 4-5 match-up on Friday night, November 4th.

Old Town won the opening kick, and chose to receive, but the MDI Trojan's defense forced the Coyotes to punt, and MDI took over on the Old Town 38 yard line with 9:38 remaining in the 1st Quarter.

The Trojans marched down and were within the 5 yard line, but were penalized for a facemask penalty, and eventually were forced to try for a field goal when the drive stalled at the 15 yard line. Drew Rich's field goal attempt was perfect and the Trojans led 3-0 with 4:12 left in the 1st Quarter.

The Coyotes took over on their own 29 yard line, and their drive was snuffed out when Chris Farnsworth intercepted a Hunter Brasslett's pass.

MDI took over and again another big penalty, this time holding, forced the Trojans to attempt another field goal. This time, Rich's kick was no good and OId Town took over on their own 20 yard line with 45.4 seconds remaining in the 1st Quarter.

Old Town was forced to punt, and MDI had excellent field position again, taking over on their own 42 yard line. Colby Lee took a pitch, going around the right side, and ran 58 yards for a touchdown. Rich's point after kick was good, and with 9:11 remaining in the 1st Half, MDI was in the lead 10-0.

Old Town was forced to punt yet again, and then MDI went into punt formation, but Drew Rich faked the punt, and his pass was intercepted. Old Town stopped the clock with 0.1 left and then attempted a Hail Mary pass but the Trojans knocked it down, and the Trojans led 10-0 at the end of the 1st Half.

The Trojans defense was suffocating in the 1st Half, limiting the Coyotes to just 34 yards rushing and 16 yards passing, while picking off 2 passes.

MDI received the 2nd Half kickoff and took over at their own 29 yard line. Colby Lee, who missed last week's game with a wrist injury, scored his 2nd touchdown of the game, this time on a 68 yard run. It was a 2 play drive that took 49 seconds. Rich's point after was good and MDI led 17-0.

Old Town was forced to punt on the ensuing drive, and then MDI turned the ball over when Ryan Hoogterp intercepted Andrew Phelps' pass. MDI forced the Coyotes to turn the ball over on downs, and MDI took over on their own 26 yard line with 5:01 left in the 3rd Quarter.

Chris Farnsworth ended up running in for the touchdown from 5 yards out, Rich's point after kick was good, and with 11:18 remaining in the game, MDI was up 24-0.

Old Town again turned the ball over on downs, and with 8:23 remaining, the Trojans took over on their own 42 yard line. Graham Good powered in from the 2 yard line and Rich's kick was good. The Trojans led 31-0 with 6:16 remaining.

Old Town finally scored, when Manuel Becklas ran in from 7 yards out. Hunter Brasslett's extra point was good, and the score was 31-7 Trojans.

That's how the game ended with MDI winning 31-7.
