Trojans Beat Coyotes 64-33 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Trojans Boy's Basketball Team nearly doubled up the Old Town Coyotes on Saturday, December 10th in their mutual opener in Bar Harbor 64-33.

The Trojans trailed in the 1st Quarter until there was 2:33 remaining in the 1st Quarter, and took the lead 9-8 on a Devin Parlatore 3-pointer. From there, the Trojans never looked back. The 1st Quarter ended with the Trojans up 9-8. In addition to Parlatore's 3-pointer, Graham Good, Russell Kropff and Derek Collin each had 2 points. That basket was Collin's 1st varsity points. For Old Town Kyle Berube had a 3-pointer, Nil Tourreguitort had 3 points and Ryan Hoogterp was 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 2nd Quarter, MDI ratcheted up the defensive pressure, and held Old Town scoreless for the 1st 3:17 of the 2nd Quarter. The Trojans outscored Old Town 27-6 to take a 36-14 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Gus Reeves and Drew Rich had 6 points each. Aaron Snurkowski had 5 points including a 3-pointer. Riley Swanson had a 3-pointer. Andrew Phelps had 2 points and Collin went 1-2 from the free throw line for the Trojans. For Old Town, Niko Knapp had 4 points and Hoogterp had 2 points for the Coyotes.

In the 3rd Quarter, Old Town outscored MDI 13-9 but MDI led 45-27. Berube drained 2 3-pointers for Old Town, Travis Spell had 3 points, Niko Knapp went 3-4 from the free throw line and Hoogterp was 1-3 from the free throw line. For MDI Swanson had 5 points including a 3 pointer, and Rich and Mac Shea each had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter, Jimmy Carroll and James McConomy scored their 1st varsity points, both 3-pointers. Graham Good had 6 points, Phelps had a 3-pointer and Kropff and Mac Shea each had 2 points. Jacob St. Louis had 4 points for Old Town and Hoogterp and Ethan Hayes each went 1-2 from the free throw line.

For MDI, Graham Good had a game high 12 points, and Drew Rich and Riley Swanson each had 8 points. The Trojans hit 7 3-pointers and were 7-10 from the free throw line.

For Old Town, Kyle Berube had 9 points, all coming from 3-pointers. Niko Knapp had 7 points. Old Town was 10-19 from the free throw line.

MDI, now 1-0 will play host to Washington Academy on Thursday, December 15th at 7 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio

Old Town, 0-1 will play host to Mattanawcook Academy on Tuesday, December 12th at 7 PM.
