Congratulations to former MDI Trojans Megan Phelps, Sierra Tapley and Kesley Shaw who are participating in March Madness, through their respective teams at Bowdoin, the University of Maine and Stonehill respectively.

Phelps, graduated from MDI in 2011 and is a  2015 graduate of Bowdoin.  Megan Phelps joined the Polar Bear women's basketball coaching staff in the spring of 2017 as assistant coach. Phelps enjoyed a fantastic playing career at Bowdoin scoring 696 points, grabbing 512 rebounds, leading the Polar Bears to three NCAA Tournament appearances while twice being named team captain.  This year the Polar Bears are 28-2 and play Wartburg in Rochester Minnesota on Friday, March 16th in the Division III Women's Semifinals.

Sierra Tapley graduated from MDI in 2016. Now in her 2nd year at the University of Maine. Last year she was named to the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll and  UMaine Scholar-Athlete Rising Star. This year she has appeared in 14 games for the Black Bears. The Black Bears are 23-9 and are the America East Champions. They are the 15th seed in the NCAA Division I Tourney, and will travel to Texas and play the 2nd seeded University of Texas on Saturday, March 16th at 6PM. That game will be on ESPN 2

Kelsey Shaw graduated from MDI in 2016. Now in her 2nd year at Stonehill College. Last year she was named to the Northeast 10 Conference All Rookie Team. This year she has played in 30 games for the Skyhawks. The are the #4 seed and playing in the Elite 8 NCAA Division II Tournamenet on Monday, March 19th against the 5th seeded Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at 9:30 PM. Stonehill is 29-3 on the season and the Northeast 10 Conference Champions.
