Today, Thursday, July 12th might be a good day to head to Thunder Hole in Acadia National Park.

The National Weather Service is advising that Hurricane Chris will pass well east of the Downeast Coast today. If you do go to Thunder Hole today, be advised that we can expect long periods of southeasterly swells which will produce a moderate risk of rip currents.  There is also the potential for random higher waves that can crash up on rock ledges and pose a hazard. The swells will begin to slowly diminish later tonight into Friday.

High tides in Bar Harbor on Thursday the 12th are at 10:33 AM and 10:48 PM

Please be sure to follow all cautionary signs at Thunder Hole as Park Rangers only place those for everyone's protection.
