The new Tradewinds Marketplace on outer State Street in Ellsworth will house one familiar restaurant and another not so familiar to our area.

It was announced yesterday that besides housing a gas station and convenience store, the new 9,500 square foot complex will also include the Canadian based restaurant Tim Hortons, famous for their coffee, donuts, soups and sandwiches!  This will be the first Tim Hortons in the Ellsworth area, there are two in Bangor and one in Brewer.

There is a Dunkin' Donuts franchise about a half mile down the road towards downtown Ellsworth but on the other side of the road.

The second restaurant will be Fuddruckers, home to the "World's Greatest Hamburgers," at least according to their website.  This will be the first Fuddruckers here in Maine.

As site developer Chuck Lawrence said back in March, motorists who travel State Street out of Ellsworth currently have no place to stop for gas on the right hand side of the road.  Soon you will also be able to score a cup of coffee and a burger too.

Work continues at the old Whitney Field location. The convenience store, gas station and restaurants should be open for business in either late April or early May, 2015.

There are currently Tradewinds Marketplaces in Brewer, Blue Hill, Eddington, Bangor and Veazie.
