Thank You From the Poppers

Words cannot express the appreciation that my family here, and my extended family in New Jersey and beyond feel for the prayers, thoughts and condolences we have received after finding out that my cousin and his wife were two of the 3 people involved in the tragic accident that claimed two lives off the coast of Corea on Wednesday evening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Ed Brackett who was their kayak guide and code enforcement officer in Gouldsboro.

To the fisherman and lobster boat captains and crews that started a search for them, after being notified by Cheryl Brackett that they were overdue in returning. Your prompt search and willingness to drop everything saved my cousin's wife. She was in 52 degree water for 5 hours, and by her own accounts, wasn't going to be able to hang on much longer.

To the ambulance crew and lifeflight crew, thank you so much. Your prompt care and transportation to Eastern Maine Medical Center while treating her has enabled her to make a physical recovery that is nothing short of miraculous.

To the critical care staff at Eastern Maine Medical Center thank you so very much for your care, concern and we are so lucky to have a caring hospital in our backyard.

Finally to the Coast Guard, Bureau of Marine Resources and Marine Patrol Officers thank you so very much. Your compassion and deeds have made a tragic situation just a little more palatable. To the Marine Patrol Officers who packed up their belongings in Winter Harbor and brought them to Bangor, words cannot express our gratitude for this act of kindness.

Maine has been my home for 30 years. Your prayers, thoughts, and acts of kindness have touched us and brought smiles to our faces in an otherwise day full of sadness.
