Captain Jason Varitek and knuckleballer Tim Wakefield have been elected to the Boston  Red Sox team Hall of Fame for 2016. The ceremony is set for May 20th.

A 14-member panel of team officials, media, booster club reps and historians select inductees.

Varitek and Wakefield were both part of the 2004 and 2007 World Championship teams.

Varitek was team captain and one of the best catchers to wear a Sox uniform. Wakefield pitched for the Sox for 17 seasons.

Other '16 inductees are former club president Larry Lucchino and an outfielder from the 1920's Ira Flagstead.
