Principal Marianne DeRaps of Sumner Memorial High School has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2014. Sumner's graduation will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 7 PM.

Valedictorian is Jennie Daley, daughter of John and Marlene Daley of Sullivan. She plans to attend the University of Maine with a major in Biomedical Engineering.

Daley is a member of the National Honor Society. She has participated in soccer, basketball and softball as well as student government. Her community service activities include volunteering with the Junior Hoops program.

Salutatorian is Jessica West, daughter of Thomas and Claire West of Steuben. She plans to attend the University of Maine with a major in Cellular and Molecular Biology.

West is a National Honor Society member and has participated in soccer, basketball, softball and outdoor track. Her community service activities include volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and Volley for the Cure.

First Honor Essayist is Genesis DiCarlo, daughter of Scoot and Melissa Ford of Sullivan. DiCarlo will be attending Mount Holyoke with a major in Pre-Med/Psychology.

DiCarlo has participated in soccer, basketball and softball. She is a National Honor Society member and has served on the Student Council. Her community service activities include volunteering with the school's Red Cross blood drives as well as the Junior Hoops program.

Second Honor essayist is Hannah Gignoux daugher of Henri and Wendy Gignoux of Steuben. She will be attending Ithaca College in the fall with a major in English Education.

Hannah is a member of the National Honor Society and has participated in student government, show choir, chorus, band, jazz choir and multiple drama productions. She is an accomplished equestrian competing at the state, regional and national level. Her community service activities include volunteering for the Schoodic Arts for All as well as Red Cross Blood Drives.
