State Police continue to investigate the deaths of a man and woman whose bodies were found in an apartment on Monday evening.

Officers had gone to the Old Town apartment on a welfare check because the pair had failed to meet up with an acquaintance earlier in the day. Dead are 33-year-old Mark Savage, Jr. and a woman who police believe is his roommate. A positive I.D. on the female could come on Wednesday. Police say the two had last been heard from on September 1st. The apartment door was locked, and police had to get a key from the landlord to get into the Water Street home.

Autopsies conducted by the State Medical Examiner's Office on Tuesday showed no signs of foul play. Toxicology tests have been ordered that may help the M.E. to determine if the deaths were drug-related.

(Note: Savage was incorrectly reported in a press release as being 55-years-old. That is actually the victim's father's. Police have corrected that error, and say that the man whose body was found is his son, 33-year-old Mark Savage, Jr)
