So far so good! The Boston Red Sox opened up the the 2016 season with a 6-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians on a cold Tuesday afternoon in Cleveland. David Price picked up the win, going 6 innings allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, both earned, and struck out 10 while walking 2. David Ortiz and Mookie Betts eached hit home runs.

Mookie Betts flashed some leather in centerfield!

Betts, Ortiz, Hanley Ramirez, Travis Shaw and Brock Holt each had 2 hits. In addition to the homerun, Ortiz also had a double. Ortiz's double was his 585th career double, tying him for 17th on the all time list with Rafael Palmeiro. The home run was Oriz's 504th, tying him for 26th on the all time list with Eddie Murray.

Junichi Tazawa pitched the 7th inning, striking out 2, Koji Uehara pitched the 8th inning striking out 1 and new closer Craig Kimbrel pitched the 9th striking out 2.

The Boston Red Sox will play the Cleveland Indians in game 2 on Wednesday with the pregame starting at 5:25 PM and the first pitch at 7:10 on AM 1370 WDEA. Clay Buchholz is scheduled to start for the Boston Red Sox.
