Go figure. Yoan Moncada comes to town to take the third base job from Travis Shaw and what does Shaw do? He rips a 3-run homer and knocks in five runs in the Sox 16-2 blow out in Oakland.

Moncada did make his MLB debut in the 8th inning and he is expected to start at third in tonight's game.

Meanwhile, Shaw, who has been struggling since the All-Star break, becomes the only left hitter this season with five five-RBI games.

The Sox pounded out 17 hits. David Ortiz and Hanley Ramirez both drove in three runs. Mookie Betts had two RBI.

Daivd Price cruised to his 14th win, pitching seven innings of two run, four hit ball.

As a bonus, the Red Sox pulled to within a game of first place Toronto after the Blue Jays lost to Tampa Bay.

The Sox and A's play again tonight in Oakland. The pregame starts at 8:20 PM on AM 1370 WDEA and Rick Porcello with his 18-3 mark will start for the Red Sox.
