The  Red Sox have their ace pitcher - free agent David Price has agreed to a 7-year, $217-million-dollar deal to come to Boston.

The deal was first reported by Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe.

It is the largest deal for a pitcher ever, surpassing Clayton Kershaw's $215M deal.

Price is a former Tampa Bay Ray, then went to Detroit and finished the year with the Blue Jays after a trade deadline deal.

He turns 30-years-old next August and is coming off a year with an 18-5 record, 2.45 ERA in 220-innings.

Update:  Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports the deal will have an opt-out clause for Price after three years.
