Red Sox Win Again 5-4 [VIDEO]
The Red Sox are showing signs of life after taking 2-of-3 from the AL West-leading Astros.
A one-handed homerun from Hanley Ramirez in the eighth inning lifted the Sox to a 5-4 win Sunday afternoon as Boston won its third consecutive series and improved to 7-3 in its last 10 games. It was Ramirez's 18th homer of the year!
Eduardo Rodriguez didn't factor in the decision but pitched well striking out eight over five innings of work while allowing just one run.
The win went to Matt Barnes, who struck out the only batter he faced, and Koji Uehara grabbed his 19th save by striking out a pair to end the game.
Ryan Hanigan recorded his first three-hit game of the season, going 3-for-3 with 2-RBI to stake the Sox to a 3-1 lead after the sixth. Houston rallied to take a 4-3 lead following back-to-back homeruns from Carlos Correa and Evan Gattis with two outs in the seventh before Ramirez's shot in the bottom of the inning proved the game-winner.
The play of the game belonged to Jake Marisnick who ran full-force into the Green Monster in left-center field to make a great catch, robbing Brock Holt with two runners on base.
With the win, the Sox moved to six games back of the AL East-leading Yankees, who fell to Tampa Bay, 8-1. The Red Sox will host the Yankees Friday -Sunday, July 10-12 just before the All Star Break.
After a day off on Monday the Sox will welcome the Miami Marlins to Fenway for a two game series beginning Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. The pregame begins at 6:20 on AM 1370 WDEA.
