Let's face it, reliever Brad Ziegler saved the Sox in a 6-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks and getting the Sox within a game of the lead in the AL East.

Reliever Matt Barnes walked the bases loaded in the 8th inning with nobody out before Ziegler came in a struck out the side on 10 pitches, all strikes. It counts as a 'hold' in the stat department but everyone at Fenway knew it saved the game.

Craig Kimbrel pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning to record the save.

Clay Buchholz made the spot start and pitched ok, 4.1 innings and giving up three runs.

The offense came from the bottom of the order, Sandy Leon-Brock Holt-Andrew Benintendi. They had five of the Sox eight hits, two of them home runs and five RBI.

Baltimore lost out west while Toronto won its game. The Blue Jays now lead the division with the Sox one game back in the loss column.

The Red Sox play Arizona Sunday afternoon in the final game of the series and final game of the homestand with the pregame starting at 12:50 and 1st pitch at 1:35 PM.

The Red Sox are now 3-2 in the midst of their 23 games in a row schedule. They travel to Cleveland for 1 game Monday afternoon (a make-up from April) before playing 2 games in Baltimore, 4 games in Detroit and 4 games in Floriday against Tampa Bay. They don't play at Fenway again after today, until Friday August 26th.
