Sox Go Down Fightin’ [VIDEO]
It was epic and entertaining. Game four of the ALDS at Fenway Park had a little bit of everything but in the end, the Houston Astros had more hitting and more pitching than the Boston Red Sox. They win 5-4 and advance to the ALCS. The Sox have to wait until next year.
The game began like all the others in the series – with Sox starters giving up a run in the first inning.
The Sox fought back and an Andrew Benintendi two-run home run gave the Sox a lead.
And, Chris Sale came out of the bullpen and pitched four innings of relief. But when he tried to make it five, trouble set in. A home run and a basehit took him out of the game and Craig Kimbrel couldn’t close the door. He gave up another run in the 9th inning and that one proved costly.
Rafael Devers blasted a bottom of the 9th inside=the-park home run to make the score 5-4.
But that was it. The Sox went quietly after that.
Oh yeah, then there was manager John Farrell. He got kicked out of the game for arguing balls and strikes and trying to protect Dustin Pedroia who was arguing with the home plate ump.
Farrell talked about that and other things in the postgame talk.
