When the Stanwood home at Birdsacre in Ellsworth burned the night of Sunday, March 2nd, people for miles around held their breath with hope that the artifacts and historical pieces inside survived.

Thanks to the Ellsworth American, we can all now see for ourselves what was left behind by the fire that investigators say was intentionally set.  It's not pretty.

Birdsacre is a true Ellsworth treasure, 200 acres nestled off the beaten track of the hustle and bustle of High Street.  Not only is it a testament of Ellsworth's past, but it truly is a sanctuary for disabled birds and other critters to re-rehabilitate from their injuries.  It is a charitable, non-profit organization.
