A Canadian hiker with a broken leg was airlifted today after getting injured on Champlain Mountain on Saturday.

The Mount Desert Islander reports the hiker was located near the Orange and Black trail. 28-year-old Xavier Moran had to be airlifted by a National Guard helicopter because of the steepness of the terrain. He was carried to an ambulance waiting at the Bar Harbor athletic fields.

The Precipice Trail and Schooner Head Overlook was closed for part of the day while the search and rescue was conducted.
