Not even a series against the rival New York Yankees is enough to spark the Red Sox into playing better baseball. Boston managed just three hits in a series opening 6-0 loss.Brandon Workman made his return to the mound after serving his suspension for the bean ball incident against the Rays earlier this year and allowed three home runs including back-to-back shots to Kelly Johnson and Brett Gardner.

Yankees number fiver starter Vidal Nuno looked like Cy Young against Boston, holding them to just 2 hits while striking out 5. This was the 7th time the Sox have been shutout this season and the 11th time in the last 13 games they have scored 3 runs or less.

Brock Holt continues to be the lone bright spot in the lineup as he reached base twice on a double and a walk. He also made two spectacular catches in right field that included taking away a home run from Brian Roberts.

A great pitching match-up will be featured in tonights game as Jon Lester faces Masahiro Tanaka. You can hear the game  on AM 1370 WDEA starting at 6:30 PM with the first pitch scheduled for 7:15 PM.
