It was a classic case snatching defeat from the jaws of victory for the Boston Red Sox falling to the Kansas City Royals 8-6 in their series finale. After scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning the Red Sox turned to Junichi Tazawa to close the game in the 9th. However, 6 hits and 4 runs later the Royals took the lead and left Fenway Park with a split in their 4-game series. This despite the brilliant play from Jackie Bradley Jr. as he threw out Omar Infante Jr. at the plate as he tried for an inside the park home run! It was at that point that Tazawa then allowed the 4 runs in the top of the 9th.

Eric Hosmer tied the game with a 2-run single before Mike Moustakas ripped a 2-run double to right center field giving KC the lead.

Boston got a lead-off hit from Jackie Bradley Jr. in the bottom of the 9th before Wade Davis got the next three in order to end the game. For Tazawa it was hit 6th blown save of the season and takes the loss, dropping his record to 2-6.

Boston will open a 3-game series with the White Sox Monday night. The pregame begins at 7:25 PM with the first pitch at 8:10 on AM 1370 WDEA.
