For the first time in nearly a decade, the Ellsworth High School Softball Team will be coached by someone else besides Rick Roberts. Roberts, who has been the head coach since 2008, and associated with the program for nearly 20 years has tendered his resignation according to the Ellsworth American. The Ellsworth School Department has placed an ad in this week's Ellsworth American for the Head Coaching position.

Roberts who is one of the best pitching coaches in Downeast  and Eastern Maine has been prohibited in working with Ellsworth pitchers in the offseason because of Maine Principal's rules which prohibit coaches from working with their players except in-season and summer.  Now that he has resigned, he will be able to work with Ellsworth's pitchers during his pitching clinics at Ellsworth High School.
