A trio of Down East players are playing for the Husson Women's Soccer Team this year. Grace Robbins from MDI High School, Lona Sargent from Sumner Memorial High School and Julie Hutchins from Deer-Isle Stonington will be playing for Head Coach Carly Gettler, who is leading the Husson Eagles in her second year.


Grace Robbins, a 5'1" junior midfielder is majoring in nursing. Before Husson:  Robbins played 3 years of varsity soccer for Coach Tom Savage at Mount Desert Island High School.  She also played 4 years of varsity tennis for Coach Ben Rowell and were Eastern Maine runner-ups in her  senior year. She is the daughter of Jay and Laurel Robbins.



Julie Hutchins is a 5'2" first year midfielder. Prior to coming to Husson, Julie played four years of varsity soccer for the Deer Isle - Stonington Mariners. She played three years of varsity softball, and her team won the Class D State Championship in 2011. She made the PVC All Star Team in 2013, and was awarded Second Baseman of the Year. She is the daughter of Sherman and Rebecca Hutchins and is majoring in occupational therapy




Lona Sargent is a  5'7" senior forward majoring in Hospitality. Lona has been a 3 year starter for the Husson Softball Team.

2012: Lona played in 46 games, taking 127 at bats, scoring 41 runs, on 54 hits, 10 doubles, batting in 26 runs, 1 walk, 21 stolen bases for a batting percentage of .425%, an on base percentage of .434%, and a slugging percentage of .528%. Defensively Lona had 49 put outs, and 7 defensive assists.

2011: Lona played in 44 games, taking 137 at bats, for 26 runs, 45 hits, 11 doubles, 1 triple, 1 homerun, 20 runs batted in, taking 5 walks, 5 stolen bases for a batting average of .328%, an on base percentage of .357% and a slugging percentage of .445%. Defensively Lona had 75 put outs, 4 defensive assists, and turned 1 double play.

2010: Lona played in 27 games, starting 21, taking 73 at bats, scoring 15 runs, 31 hits, 6 doubles, 15 runs batted in, .425 batting average, .507 slugging percentage, and a .434% on base percentage.  Defensively Lona had 23 put outs, and 3 defensive assists.





The Husson Women's Soccer Team opens their season this weekend, hosting the 9th Annual Husson Classic. Saturday, August 31 at 1:30 they host St. Joseph's College and then Sunday, September 1 they host Western New England at 1:30
