The Boston Red Sox beat the St. Louis Cardinals early Thursday morning, 5-4 as it took 13 innings for the Red Sox to prevail. The Red Sox were losing 4-0 before scoring 2 runs in the 7th and 8th innings to push the games into extra innings.

The Red Sox used 9 pitchers in the win. Rick Porcello started and went 6.0 innings allowing 4 runs, all earned, on 9 hits while striking out 6 and walking 3. Ross Jr, Barnes, Kelly, Scott, Kimbrel, Hembree, Abad and Taylor then pitched 7 scoreless innings, allowing just 3 hits. Abad picked up the win and Taylor the save.

Jackie Bradley Jr. was 2-5 with a homer and single with 2 RBIs. Xander Bogaerts was 2-5 with a triple. Mitch Moreland was 2-6 with his 16th double of the year. Chris Young's pinch hit single in the 13th inning was the game winning hit.

The Boston Red Sox are now off to Oakland with a 4 game series with the A's. Thursday night's pregame starts at 9:20 PM with the first pitch at 10:05 PM on AM 1370 WDEA.
