The Red Sox win streak is now at 3, after the Red Sox defeated the Houston Astros, Friday night July 11, by the score 8-3! It's the third time the Sox have had a winning streak of 3 or more games this year.

John Lackey had a good night on the mound. He struck out 3 in 6 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 earned runs and walked 5. He also had a nifty defensive play. Lackey is now 10-6 on the season.

Mike Carp and Burke Badenhop also teamed up for a highlight film defensive play

The player of the game was Christian Vazquez, who was playing in his 2nd game. Vazquez, not only picked up his first major league hit, he went 3-4 at the plate, with two doubles, and drove in 3 runs. According to weei.com, he became the first Red Sox since Nomar Garciaparra in 1996 to have a 3 hit game in one of his first two career games, and the first Sox catcher to do so since  Russ Gibson in 1967!

The Red Sox and Astros are back at it on Saturday afternoon with the game starting at 4:10. The series will conclude on Sunday, before the teams take some time off for the All-Star break.
