It stunk to be at Fenway Park last night, April 23rd. I'm not sure what was worse, Boston Red Sox pitcher Alfredo Aceves, the anemic Boston offense, the impression that the Red Sox wanted off the field or the weather which was rainy, and cold! Most of the players were wearing ski masks to try and stay warm.

But, you have to give credit to the Red Sox ownership! They offered a free ticket to today's game or tomorrow's game to the 29,006 in attendance. Those fans have a chance to see Jon Lester or Clay Buchholz pitch today or tomorrow respectively! That would never have happened before!

Alfredo Aceves gave up 8 runs, 7 earned, walked 4 struck out 3, committed 2 balks and 1 error in 3.1 innings. Luckily for Red Sox fans, and I never thought I would say this, John Lackey should take the mound Sunday, instead of Alfredo Aceves.

The Red Sox look to get back on the winning track with an afternoon game against the Oakland A's today with the first pitch at 4:05 and pregame starting at 3:20. Left Jon Lester takes the mound for the Sox. He is 3.0 with a ERA of 1.73. The lefty has been nothing short of dominant to open the season. In Lester's last start, he allowed two runs over seven innings to beat the Indians.
