The Boston Red Sox fell to the New York Yankees Friday night, June 29th in New York by the score of 8-1, and are now tied with the Yankees for 1st place.

The Yankees scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning as Miguel Andujar hit a 2 run homer and then Gred Bird followed with a solo homer off Eduardo Rodriguez.

Rodriguez managed to go 6 innings, allowing 5 runs, on 7 hits, striking out 2 and walking 2.

Meanwhile the Red Sox managed only 6 hits off of the Yankee's pitchers. Newly acquire Steve Pearce started at 1st base, and batted cleanup. In his 1st at bat for the Red Sox he stroked a double. He ended the night 2-4. Mookie Betts was 2-4 with a double and Andrew Benintendi also had a double for the Red Sox.

The Red Sox and Yankees will play the middle game of the 3 game series Saturday night with the pregame starting at 6:30 PM and 1st pitch at 7:15 PM Chris Sale is scheduled to pitch for the Red Sox against Sonny Gray for the Yankees. You can hear the game on AM 1370 WDEA
