Red Sox Drop Game to Cleveland 5-4 [VIDEO]

The Boston Red Sox outhit the Cleveland Indians 13-7 on Monday, August 20th, but the Cleveland Indians beat the Red Sox 5-4 at Fenway Park in the opening game of the 4 game series. The Red Sox left 11 men on base.

The Red Sox led 3-1 through the 5th inning, but Rick Porcello gave up a pair of homers in the 6th and 7th innings to Michael Brantley and Gary Allen as the Indians took a 5-3 lead. The Red Sox rallied to score 1 run in the 9th but couldn't tie the game.

Porcello pitched 7 innings allowing 6 hits and 5 runs. He struck out 6 and walked 1. Tyler Thornburg and Drew Pomeranz pitched scoreless innings for the Red Sox in relief.

Mookie Betts was 2-5 with his 37th double. Xander Bogaerts drove in 3 runs going 2-5. JD Martinez and Jackie Bradley Jr. each had 2 hits.
