The Red Sox led 3-1 through the 5th inning, but Rick Porcello gave up a pair of homers in the 6th and 7th innings to Michael Brantley and Gary Allen as the Indians took a 5-3 lead. The Red Sox rallied to score 1 run in the 9th but couldn't tie the game.

Porcello pitched 7 innings allowing 6 hits and 5 runs. He struck out 6 and walked 1. Tyler Thornburg and Drew Pomeranz pitched scoreless innings for the Red Sox in relief.
