August 25, 2012, it was a day that turned around the Boston Red Sox, and set the tone for 2013! It was just one year ago that the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers completed a blockbuster trade!  The Boston Red Sox traded Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto for James Loney, Ivan DeJesus Jr., Allen Webster, Rubby De La Rosa. More importantly the Red Sox shed $262.5 million in contracts!

One year later, only Allen Webster and Rubby De La Rosa remain on the Red Sox roster, but it certainly was a winning trade for the Red Sox, in my opinion. They got rid of Beckett and Crawford who clearly didn't want to be in Boston. They've used the cash to pick up up Shane Victorino, Jake Peavey, Stephen Drew, Mike Napoli and Ryan Dempster and still have payroll flexibility in the years to come.

I was upset with the Sox giving up Adrian Gonzalez, as I thought he was an exceptional player, and he's proven to be that and more in 2013.

So what do you think, one year later? Leave your thoughts in the comments please. Don't forget you can catch tonight's game on WDEA AM 1370 starting at 7:20 PM
