The Boston Red Sox beat the New York Yankees on Saturday, August 4th for the 3rd game in a row, 4-1, and with 50 games left in the regular season, the Boston Red Sox now lead the New York Yankees by 8.5 games.

Nathan Eovaldi went 8.0 scoreless innings, allowing just 3 hits while striking out 4 and walking 1. In his first 15 innings since joining the Red Sox he has yet to allow a run.

Mitch Moreland starting at first base was 1-3 hitting a 2 run homer in the 1st inning, his 13th of the season.

JD Martinez was 1-4 hitting his major league leading 33rd homer of the season in the 4th inning. He now leads the majors with 91 runs batted in and 260 total bases.

Craig Kimbrel made it "interesting" in the top of the 9th inning, allowing a run to score and loading the bases before getting the final out on a fly ball to center.
