The Boston Red Sox beat the New York Yankees 4-3 on Tuesday, October 9th in New York to win the Best of 5 American League Division Series 3-1 and will play the Houston Astros in the Best of 7 American League Championship Series which will start Saturday, October 13th in Fenway Park.

Rick Porcello pitched 5 strong innings for the win. He allowed just 4 hits, and 1 run, striking out 1. Matt Barnes pitched the 6th, Ryan Brasier the 7th and Chris Sale, the 8th. The three didn't allow a hit. Then came Craig Kimbrel in the 9th.

In the 9th inning, the Yankees scored twice, got the potential tying run into scoring position and put the winning run on base. With 2 outs Gleyber Torres hit a slow roller to 3rd base and Eduardo Nunez threw to Steve Pearce at 1st and stretched for the out. The play was confirmed by replay, and the Red Sox advance.

The Red Sox received doubles from Ian Kinsler and Nunez, who both didn't start in Monday's game. Christian Vazquez hit a solo homer.

The 1st game of the ALCS against the Astros will start at 8:07PM with the pregame starting at 7PM on AM 1370 WDEA. Chris Sale is scheduled to start for Boston.
