In the Battle of Sox, the Boston Red Sox defeated the Chicago White Sox Thursday night, August 3rd 9-5 at Fenway Park banging out 15 hits and blasting 2 home runs. The Red Sox have now won 3 games in a row.

Andrew Benintendi reached base all 5 times he went to the plate. He was 3-3 with 2 doubles and also walked and was hit by a pitch. He drove in a run and scored twice.

Rafael Devers was 1-4 but his hit was a home run, driving in 2. It was his 3rd career homer, and he now has a 7 game hitting streak and reached base in all 8 career games. He's batting .406

Mookie Betts was 1-4, with a 2 run homer, the team leading 18th home run of the season.

Rick Porcello was the beneficiary of the Red Sox offense, throwing 5.1 innings. He allowed 5 runs on 7 hits, striking out 6 and walking 2.  Five Red Sox relievers threw 3.2 hitless innings.

With the win, and the New York Yankees loss, the Red Sox now lead the AL East by 2.0 games. The Red Sox and White Sox play the 2nd game of the 4 game series on Friday night with the pregame starting at 6:25 and 1st pitch at 7:10 on AM 1370 WDEA. Eduardo Rodriguez takes the mound for the Red Sox.
