The game finished at about 2 AM Eastern time, but it was all good, as the Boston Red Sox defeated the Seattle Mariners 3-2 in 12 innings to go 4-4 on the road trip with 3 games coming up against the Los Angeles Dodgers before they return home to Fenway Park.

Brock Holt who came into the game in the 7th inning drove in the game winner, with a single into center. Since returning from the disabled list, Holt has reached base in 20 of the last 22 games.

David Ortiz was 1-5 and with his single, moved past Mickey Mantle for 44th place in All time hits in the AL with 2416.

Travis Shaw was 2-5 with a home run, his 13th of the season.

Drew Pomeranz pitched 6 innings allowing 2 earned runs, 4 hits and walked 6 while striking out 6. Craig Kimbrel picked up the win, going 1.1 innings and Brad Ziegler picked up his 21st save of the year (3rd with the Red Sox)

Hanley Ramirez missed his 2nd game in a row, after falling down the dugout steps in Seattle.

Boston is now 59-48 and 2 games back of Baltimore and Toronto in the AL East. If the season ended today, the Red Sox would be in the playoffs in the 2nd wild card spot.
