The Boston Red Sox's bats came alive in the 1st inning on Friday night, April 28th, as the Red Sox scored 5 runs and hung on to beat the Chicago Cubs 5-4 at Fenway Park.

Drew Pomeranz picked up his 2nd win of the season and is now 2-1. He pitched 6 innings, allowing 2 earned runs, on 2 solo homers. He gave up 6 hits, walked 2 and struck out 7.

Craig Kimbrel picked up his American Leading 8th save, striking out the side in the top of the 9th inning.

Dustin Pedroia batting 6th for the 1st time in his career was 2-3 with a walk. Andrew Benintendi, batting 2nd hit a solo homer in the bottom of the 2nd inning, He's now batting .325 on the season.

Hanley Ramirez was 2-4 with a single and walk, driving in a run.  Mitch Moreland was 1-3 with a walk, double, run scored and RBI. His double was his major league leading 12th.

Christian Vazquez was 2-4 with a RBI. He's now batting .481 on the season.

The Red Sox are now 12-10 on the season and will play the Chicago Cubs Saturday afternoon in the 2nd game of the 3 game series with the pregame starting at 3:20 and 1st pitch at 4:05 on AM 1370 WDEA. Knuckleballer Steven Wright will take the mound for the Red Sox against former Red Sox player John Lackey.
