A day after just collecting 3 hits against the Tampa Bay Rays, on Sunday, June 28th the Boston Red Sox banged out 8 hits, but 3 of them were home runs, off one of the best pitchers in baseball, Chris Archer, and beat the Rays 5-3.

Pablo Sandoval and Alejandro De Aza hit solo homers in the 2nd inning, and then "Big Papi" David Ortiz hit a 2 run homer in the 4th. Xander Bogaerts was 2-4 with a double. Blake Swihart also doubled for the Red Sox.

Justin Masterson, who returned to the Red Sox rotation after having spent some time in the minor leagues after being largely ineffective in the early part of the season, pitched very well for the Red Sox. He went 5 innings, allowing just 1 unearned run. He struck out 6 and didn't walk anyone.

Koji Uehara picked up his 16th save of the season, pitching a perfect 9th inning.

Mike Napoli was ejected in the 2nd inning by home plate umpire  Tripp Gibson for arguing balls and strikes. It was Napoli's 4th ejection of the season.
