The Boston Red Sox are 1 win away from a rematch with the Houston Astros in the American League Championship Series after spanking the New York Yankees 16-1 in Game 3 of the American League Division Series in New York on Monday, October 8th. The Red Sox lead the best of five series 2 games to 1.

Brock Holt, starting for the 1st time in the ALCS became the first player in postseason history to hit for the cycle! He drove in 4 runs, going 4-6. His 2 run homer in the 9th inning came off Austin Romine, a backup catcher who was pitching as the Yankees tried to preserve their bullpen.

Every Red Sox starter had at least 1 hit. The Red Sox had 18 hits, 13 of them singles. Andrew Benintendi had 3 runs batted in, Mookie Betts and JD Martinez each drove in 2 runs.

Nathan Eovaldi  went 7 innings, allowing just 5 hits and 1 run for the Red Sox. He struck out 5 and didn't walk a batter.
