The Boston Red Sox lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday afternoon, March 14th in Spring Training action, 3-1. It was the Red Sox's 5th consecutive loss and the Red Sox's Spring Training record is now 5-8.

Joe Kelly was impressive starting for the Red Sox, pitching 4 shutout innings, allowing just 3 hits, 1 walk and striking out 3. Brian Johnson took the loss, as he came in to pitch in the 6th inning, and allowed 3 earned runs on 4 hits, and didn't retire a batter before he was pulled.

Pablo Sandoval was 2-3 and hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 2nd inning for the Red Sox's lone run. Dustin Pedroia was 2-2 with a pair of doubles, David Ortiz and Hanley Ramirez were each 1-3.
