Price In Relief, Sox Get Win [VIDEO]
David Price pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief and rookie Rafael Devers ripped a three-run home run as the Red Sox beat Cincinnati in interleague play Friday night.
And, even better news for Sox fans, the Yankees lost to the Blue Jays so with nine game left of the schedule the Sox have a four game lead over the Yanks in the AL East.
It didn't look good for Boston early in the game. Rick Porcello gave up a first inning grand slam to Scooter Gennett and Porcello lasted just four innings.
On came Price to pitch well again out of the bullpen and he got credit for the win.
The Sox managed just six hits all night, two of them by Devers. The home run in the fourth inning was the big blow.
Craig Kimbrell worked the ninth inning and got his 34th save.
Boston is now 14-4 in interleague games this season with two more to play against the Reds.
The Sox are a season-best 25 games over 500 with an 89-64 record
The Red Sox take on the Cincinnati Reds Saturday afternoon with the pregame starting at 3:25 and 1st pitch at 4:10 on AM 1370 WDEA.
