Restoration Details:Bangor Hydro Electric Company crews are still deployed this evening working to restore service to tens of thousands of customers following two days of ice, sleet, rain and freezing rain. The weight of the ice on power lines and nearby trees in contact with them brought down lines, broke poles and caused widespread damage. Field crews are reporting scenes, especially in Washington county, reminiscent of the Ice Storm of '98.The company's full resources are committed to the massive restoration effort: crews have been brought in from other divisions, including our partner utility, Maine Public Service; outside contractors are now in the field supporting Bangor Hydro line workers; and employees from across the company are stepping in to help staff the Customer Service Center, the dispatch office and elsewhere.

Travel conditions are challenging and customers can assist by ensuring private roads are well sanded. Please remember to have generators properly installed and never use them inside. Finally, it is important to remember that power lines are never safe to touch and neither are tree limbs in contact with them.

Other Related Information:Customers may report additional outages or downed lines by calling our Bangor Customer Service Center at 1-800-440-1111.
Estimated Time of Service Restoration:Crews will continue their work through the overnight hours, however due to the extensive damage to the system some customers will likely be without power until mid-day Friday. Any customer without service at this time should make arrangements to be without service until at least tomorrow if not longer.
Estimated Time of Next Update:4:00 a.m.
