Update 4:49 PM Sunday Here's the latest UPDATE

As of 4:00 p.m. more than 38,000 Emera Maine customers were without power, the result of strong gusty winds and heavy, wet snow weighing down on tree limbs and trees on power lines, especially in Penobscot and Hancock Counties. The utility has declared a system emergency and additional crews are being brought in from our Northern Operating Region and New Brunswick.  Crews which had been placed on standby in anticipation of the storm were fully deployed as of this morning.

The first snowfall of Fall (Jeesh it's not even winter) is causing havoc with Emera Maine's customers. As of 3:10 PM on Sunday, November 2nd, there are over 25,000 customers without power.

Winds are supposed to continue to blow and the snow is supposed to continue to through the night, so it's likely more Mainers will be without power as the trees bow under the weight of the snow and leaves. A winter storm warning is in effect through 1 AM on Monday.

Police in Bangor, Bucksport, Ellsworth and other departments are reporting their roads are snow covered and advise not traveling unless necessary.

If you have electrical lines down, please avoid them and trees in contact with the downed lines. Customers may report outages or ask questions by calling Emera Maine's Customer Service Center at (207) 973-2000 or 1-855-EMERA11 (1-855-363-7211) and on our the web
