State Police are investigating a series of grass fires along the southbound lane of I-95, from Waterville to Sidney, and are searching for a white sedan they believe was involved.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says crews battled 6 fires along a 10 mile stretch of the southbound lane of interstate 95, starting just before 10:00 Friday morning. Troopers are working with State Fire Marshals and Forest Rangers and have determined the fires were intentionally set.

Now, Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a newer style white sedan that may have been pulled over or made frequent stops along this stretch of the highway, then sped off to the south at a high rate of speed. All the fires were extinguished by the Waterville and Sidney Fire Departments.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper John Lacoste, State Police Troop C, at (207) 624-7076.
