Ugly! Overmatched! Pick a bad adjective and it could be used to describe the Boston Red Sox pitching effort on Sunday, as the Red Sox were blown away by Baltimore 18-7 in Camden Yards. The loss dropped the Red Sox to 10-9 on the season and out of first place.

Six Boston pitchers allowed 20 hits, 18 runs, 16 of which were earned. The bullpen which had been taxed, imploded. Wade Miley the starter lasted only 2.1 innings, giving up 7 runs and 5 hits. Anthony Varvaro pitched 1.2 innings allowing 2 runs and 2 hits. Robbie Ross Jr pitched 1 inning giving up 1 run and 3 hits. Heath Hembree called up from Pawtucket allowed 6 hits and 6 runs in 1.1 innings and Craig Breslow pitched .2 innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits. The lone bright spot for the Red Sox pitching corps was Edward Mujica who pitched the 8th inning and didn't allow a run!

Pablo Sandoval homered and Hanley Ramirez went yard twice. Brock Holt reached base all 5 times he was up at the plate, going 2-2 and walking 3 times. Holt is batting .457 on the season.

Shane Victorino knew how painful this game was for Red Sox fans and did his best to prevent the cameraman from filming the game

The Red Sox return to Fenway Monday night, April 27th after going 2-4 on the road trip and will play the Toronto Blue Jays. The Red Sox will send Joe Kelly while Aaron Sanchez pitches for the Blue Jays. The pregame starts at 5:25 PM with the first pitch at 6:10 PM on AM 1370 WDEA..
