A pedestrian was struck and killed by a passing car in Downtown Bangor at around 8:35 Saturday evening. Police expect the street will be closed late into the night, as they investigate the crash.

Witnesses told the BDN that the victim was a homeless man who ate his weekend meals at the Bahaar Pakistani Restaurant, after the business had closed. The man was crossing Hammond Street, near Mexicali Blues, when he was struck by a light-colored Chevy Cruze. Also in the street was a shopping cart and its contents. The victim is said to have carried his belongings in the cart.

Police have not released the names of the victim or the driver of the sedan.
